Welcome to website of The Future art magazine, the new magazine dedicated to dynamic, edgy and entertaining critical writing on contemporary art. THE FUTURE is here to provoke debate over what makes art today interesting, difficult, inspiring, aggravating and good. Recognising that art isnt just commerce, or fashion, or a subject for specialists, but an open, contradictory and vibrant part of contemporary culture, THE FUTURE brings together a wide range of writers to discuss what new art is doing, what its doing well, and where it might be headed soon. Following the launch of the magazine at the Livepool Biennial, as part of the Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2004 exhibition, we're publishing a selection of reviews and articles from Issue One. Here youll find writing by established writers and writers publishing for the first time: Irreverent, questioning reviews of some of the best and worst art of the past year; Articles that discuss the significance of emerging tendencies across the spectrum of contemporary art; essays that take on bigger themes and the wider context in which art works; and DIY reviews written by people writing on the art they believe is worth reading about. Over the next few months we'll be making an open call for reviews and articles. Our ambition is to make this website the first place to read informed, critical responses to what is happening in current art, from reviews of new exhibitions to commentary and analysis of wider issues. If you want to write for us, get in touch. In the meantime, take a look
